Prayer Everyday, All of the time

It is easy to forget to pray because though we talk to our selves, it appears infantile to talk with someone who you cannot see.  It is acceptable to have an imaginary friend as a young child, but as we mature, we are expected to leave behind our invisible comrades to face the realities of the world on our own. This is one of the many instances where we are so improperly impressed with our human capabilities that we fail to recognize our source.  Talking to Buddy or Sister your imaginary friend might become infantile at some point, but having full on conversations, emotional, deep and colorful is a sign of Christian maturity.

David wrote most of the Psalms.  They express a range of subjects and emotions and David is deemed God’s favorite.  He was not God’s favorite because he was a good man.  David was an adulterer and murder, but he had deep relationship with God, which he expressed in song and writing.  Though you and I will not have the opportunity to write any books of the Bible, while we have breath, we can pray.

What is prayer.

I am a pray-er, a person who prays regularly. There used to be a time where the internet required dial up. I remember visiting with a family when I and my wife moved to the West Coast.  In order for me to access the Internet I had to wait until the wee hours of the night so that I did not tie up the telephone lines.  We connected to the world wide web by plugging our computer into the house’s phone line then the computer would dial into the Internet through our service provide with our user name and password. I could access the Internet, but my access was intermittent and compared to today’s streaming capabilities it was arduous.  Today, we can still plug in to the Internet, but need not dial up.  We simply plug in or access the web via our mobile devices that we have set up to have a broadband connection that is always on.

Instead of having an on again off again connection, we are able to be stay connected.  This is how our prayer life should be.  It should go with you regardless of where you are. You need not be in a church or any other building to plug in and dial up. You need not have a password and username to access God.  You simply need to call His name.
